Speakers' biographies


Dr Meike Engfer
Market Access and Concepts, Global Division Clinical Nutrition
Fresenius Kabi (Germany)

After studying nutritional sciences Meike took up international research projects and acquired her PhD in the field of gut physiology at the University of Giessen, Germany before moving into the healthcare business.

Meike is an expert in the area of clinical nutrition having covered the medical/scientific and regulatory, as well as the marketing, health economic and market access side. Her key objective is to position medical nutrition as an integrated part of patient care and disease management. Several systematic reviews were performed under her guidance demonstrating the evidence of Medical Nutrition in various disease areas.

For many years Meike is a relevant player in the MNI organization where she headed the Evidence team and now the Health economic working group. Meike is co-initiator of the new systematic reviews on the cost effectiveness of Oral Nutritional Supplements and leads the MNI campaign to communicate the beneficial findings across relevant target groups.


Mike Wallace
Global Market Access Director
Nutricia Advanced Medical Nutrition (the Netherlands)

Mike graduated from York University with an MSc in Health Economics, and has worked internationally in numerous roles within the Life Sciences industry over the past 20 years. He has chaired national and European industry taskforces on health technology assessment, and while in the UK was a member of the NICE technology appraisal committee, as well as co-chairing the development of the medical devices evaluation pathway at NICE.

As a economist Mike has focused his career on putting value at the heart of healthcare decision making. This is of critical importance in his current role as the Global Market Access Director for Nutricia, where Mike is charged with driving the best nutritional solution through understanding the impact on patients, healthcare practitioners and health system costs.


Fionna Page
Registered Dietitian

Fionna is a Registered Dietitian (RD) with 19 years experience spanning clinical practice, and the medical food industry as an Independent Nutrition Consultant and Director of First Page Nutrition Ltd. She has a Degree in Dietetics and worked in the National Health Service in the UK specializing in nutrition support in hospital and community settings.

Fionna has worked in the medical food industry for 14 years and brings medical nutrition and regulatory expertise to a wide variety of projects. She has worked closely with the MNI since 2009 and collated and wrote the dossier ‘Oral Nutritional Supplements to Tackle Malnutrition’.
